Hamilton Park Renovation Meeting

With Hamilton Park's long overdue renovation finally becoming a reality, final decisions about layout and design are becoming increasingly contentious. YouTuber lifefood has posted videos of the most recent meeting (and other important civic meetings). Take a look if you missed the in person event, and even if you didn't, watch the crowd give a smack down to Janet Allen who seems to think a park best serves the people with pretty flowers rather than active recreation. Ball playing still prohibited.

i realize that nobody likes janet allen, but there sure are a lot of smug, comfortable bullies in this town.

the treatment of janet allen and sonia maldonado on the getjc bulletin board and elsewhere has been pretty shameful. i know they both walk right into the bear trap every time, but still. i just don't understand what the point of it all is, outside of playground cruelty. i mean, she's lost the argument. why keep whacking her?

in my opinion, you get about a week to ridicule a public figure. any more than that, it starts to become a pastime and a crutch, like, "i'm bored today, what shall i do? hey, let's log on and say *even more* cruel things about janet allen and sonia maldonado". at that point, the problem is no longer the public figure -- it's the folks who can't let it go.

In the case of this meeting I think its deserved, especially since the meeting video speaks for itself.

Also, I'm a little bitter that ball playing has been banned, not least of all because its one of the few things I'd be interested in doing in the park. But I suppose that's another matter entirely.
